Anti-Racism & Equity

The Corona-Norco Unified School District’s Board of Education is committed to providing an equal opportunity for all individuals in education. The objective of the school system is to provide a program which will enable every child and youth, regardless of his/her race, color, ethnic group, national origin, religion mental or physical disability, marital or family status, gender (including gender identity) or actual or perceived sexual orientation, to have an equal opportunity to achieve the maximum development of his/her individual potential. All District programs, including clubs, organizations, social affairs, athletic groups sponsored by the District or an individual school shall be free from discrimination based upon race, color, ethnic group, national origin, religion, mental or physical disability, gender (including gender identity), actual or perceived sexual orientation or any other unlawful consideration. The Board shall promote programs which ensure that discriminatory practices are eliminated in all District activities. District programs and facilities will comply with requirements as specified under Americans with Disabilities Act. The Superintendent, or designee, shall ensure that interested persons, including those with impaired vision and hearing, can obtain information about available programs, facilities, and activities. The Superintendent, or designee, shall notify students, parents/guardians, employee organizations, and sources of referral and applicants for admission and employment about the District's policy on nondiscrimination (BP: 300).

Unity

UNITY's goal is to unite students by celebrating their differences and operates on the premise that "it's hard to hate someone when you know their story. Talk to your school Unity Advisor or School Counselor if you are interested in going to a Forum or Camp.

Learning for Justice

Our program emphasizes social justice and anti-bias. The anti-bias approach encourages children and young people to challenge prejudice and learn how to be agents of change in their own lives. Our Social Justice Standards show how anti-bias education works through the four domains of identity, diversity, justice and action.

NAACP

Their mission is to secure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights in order to eliminate race-based discrimination and ensure the health and well-being of all persons.

SPLC

What they do. They employ a three-pronged strategy to battle racial and social injustice: Fighting Hate.

BLM

#BlackLivesMatter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Black Lives Matter Foundation, Inc is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes.

Ensures that all children with disabilities have available to them a free appropriate public education that emphasizes special education and related services designed to meet their unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment, and independent living.
