 Dr. Romero is currently in his first year of service as the Principal of Centennial High School. Previously, Dr. Romero served as the Principal of Lakeside High School, an AVID National Demonstration School in the Lake Elsinore Unified School District. Prior to his tenure at Lakeside, Dr. Romero served as the principal of Ray Wiltsey Middle School, an International Baccalaureate School in the Ontario-Montclair School District, where he facilitated the collaborative efforts in transforming the school into a state and national “School to Watch” and “PBIS Silver Award” winner, both within a span of three years. Additionally, Dr. Romero has served in the following capacities: middle school assistant principal (Serrano Middle School- AVID National Demonstration School), district program specialist for curriculum and instruction (secondary schools), and English Teacher.

Dr. Romero’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in Education, both from Azusa Pacific University, an Administrative Credential from California Baptist University, a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University, and a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California (USC). Furthermore, in the Summer of 2017, Dr. Romero was selected to participate in the National Institute for Urban School Leaders at the Harvard Graduate School of Education where he was the only representative from the state of California.

Moreover, Dr. Romero is an active member of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) and the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA), the latter for which he successfully completed a two-year mentorship program for aspiring superintendents. Dr. Romero now gives back to the CALSA organization by serving as a mentor for up-and-coming administrators.

Dr. Romero is happily married to his wife of 12 years, and they are blessed to have two beautiful daughters, Leazah and Talya, both who attend CNUSD schools.

“Every Student, Every Minute, Every Day” continues to be a personal motto that Dr. Romero continues to keep at the forefront of his mind throughout his journey as an educational leader.


Josh Godinez-Assistant Principal

Josh Godinez, Assistant Principal, grew up in the Coachella Valley. A proud graduate of Cathedral City High School in 1997, Mr. Godinez left the Palm Springs area to pursue higher education in the Inland Empire. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/Administrative Studies from the University of California Riverside and a Master of Arts Degree in Education from Claremont Graduate University.

Most recently, Mr. Godinez was honored to spend seven amazing years as a school counselor at Centennial High School. Prior to Centennial High School, Mr. Godinez served as Head Counselor for Jurupa Hills High School in Fontana. He is Past Board Chair for the California Association of School Counselors (2020-2022) and was the 2019 California School Counselor of the Year. Mr. Godinez is a California State SARB Board Member, has served on the California MTSS Design Committee, the California State Superintendent of Public Instruction’s Data Transition Team, California Department of Education’s Mental Health Coalition, the Pupil Personnel Services Coalition, and Chairs the California Association of School Counselors Government Relations Committee. Two highlights of his work were helping ghost author AB 2508, which transformed California EdCode 49600 for the school counseling profession and being a facilitative lead with the 2023 update on the California Standards for the School Counseling Profession. 

Before becoming a school counselor, Mr. Godinez was a high school social science teacher for almost a decade at both AB Miller High School and Summit High School where his belief was every student has both a purpose and a place in his classroom. While he loved teaching primarily Government and Economics, it was Peer Counseling that led him to back to school for a counseling credential.  In addition to teaching, Mr. Godinez found joy as a Beginning Teacher Support Provider, where he had the pleasure of supporting many new teachers who were in the early stages of their career. During his time in the classroom and for a short time in his transition into school counseling, Mr. Godinez also served as an adjunct professor in the Teacher Education Department at Claremont Graduate University. 



Tony Barile-Assistant Principal of Athletics

Tony Barile is the new Athletic Director at Centennial High School, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a passion for sports. With a remarkable career spanning 17 years as a head football coach at four different high schools, as well as serving the past seven years as an assistant here at Centennial, Tony has left an indelible mark on the school's athletic program. His dedication extends beyond the football field, as he has also served as a head track coach, head golf coach, and assistant girls basketball coach.

Tony's commitment to education is evident through his tenure as a teacher, which began in 1997 across five different high schools. His extensive background in coaching and teaching has allowed him to positively impact the lives of countless student-athletes, inspiring them to achieve both on and off the field.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Tony finds joy in his family life. He is happily married to his wife, Alexis Barile, and together they have three children and two grandchildren. As the new Athletic Director at Centennial High School, Tony Barile is poised to lead the athletic department with his expertise, passion, and unwavering commitment to the success of the students and the school as a whole.




Katie Vaughan-Assistant Principal

 Mrs. Vaughan is starting her 24th year at Centennial.  Prior to becoming Assistant Principal of Activities, she taught AP & IB Psychology, Language Arts and Peer Counseling.  She earned her bachelor's degree in both Political Science and Psychology from University of California, Riverside, her Juris Doctor from University of California, Hastings College of Law, and master’s degree in Educational Administration from Point Loma Nazarene University.  Mrs. Vaughan enjoys spending family time with her husband and three boys, as well as reading, baking, and practicing yoga.  Mrs. Vaughan takes pride in being a long-time, veteran Husky and is looking forward to planning a year filled with welcoming and meaningful activities for all Cen10 Huskies!

Mr. Cameron attended Pt Loma University and played basketball there. Met his wife Kellie  at Pt Loma.  Married to Kellie Cameron for 22 years, they have 4 beautiful daughters. Madeline is the oldest, she's married and has 1 son (Caysen), second oldest is Kaiya, next is Ciara, and youngest is Brooklyn. 

Mr. Cameron taught science and PE for 15 years. He coached several sports but was a head basketball coach for 12 years. Prior to Centennial, he was Assistant Principal over Athletics for 9 years at Norco HS. Mr. Cameron is now in a regular Assistant Principal position at Centennial.

Mr. Johnson has worked in secondary education for over 18 years as a teacher, school counselor, grade-level coordinator, eLearning developer, and administrator. He has a Bachelor (BA) focused in Communications (CSUF), a Master of Arts (MA) focused in Educational Counseling (APU), and a Master of Science (MS) focused in Instructional Design and Technology (CSUF). What he enjoys the most about his journey as an educator is the limitless opportunities to use emerging technologies in a creative way to teach, inspire, empower, and bring people together. Collaborating with others, listening to new ideas, learning, and setting people up for success helps him genuinely love what he does.

Ms. Vega is so excited and proud to be joining the Husky Pack for her first year at Centennial High School!  She has been part of the Corona-Norco Unified School District for the last 22 years.  For 18 of those years, she taught Spanish and English Language Development; and for the last 7 years, she has served as an assistant principal.  Ms. Vega is a graduate of Cal State San Marcos and Concordia University, Irvine.  She enjoys cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her four children.  Ms. Vega has a true passion for supporting students in reaching their full potential at the high school level to achieve their post-secondary dreams.  She is looking forward to a fantastic school year serving the students, families, and staff of Centennial!
