What is AVID?
AVID is an elective class that is built into the student's schedule during all four years of high school. Students receive support from their AVID teacher and college-level AVID tutors during tutorials, notebook checks, class lessons and activities, grade checks, mentoring, help with course selection, SAT and ACT registration and preparation, college application assistance, financial aid and scholarship assistance, and MORE!!! AVID EXPECTATIONS
- Take A-G courses
- Maintain Cs or better in all classes
- Maintain satisfactory citizenship and attendance in all classes
- Attend summer school (if necessary) to meet A-G requirements
- Take Cornell Notes and maintain an organized notebook
- Come to school prepared and on time each day
- Participate in Community Service
- Participate in Extra Curricular activities

- Assistance with course selection to ensure that students meet A-G Requirements

- Participation in extra curricular activities and community service
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
Students who have the potential and desire to attend a four year college and
-
have appropriate classroom behavior
- have 2.0 or above grade point average
- are willing to commit themselves to the AVID program for the duration of high school
- are willing to commit to enrollment in a rigorous college preparatory sequence of courses including AP and/or honors courses
- are willing to achieve their goals through hard work and determination (students may need to take summer school classes and/or zero period to fit AVID into their schedule; students should attend tutoring regularly)
